Character Name: Ichiro Ogami
Character Canon: Sakura Wars
History: http://sakurataisen.wikia.com/wiki/Ohgami_Ichiro
AU History: Similarly to canon, Ichiro was placed in and completed officer training for the guard. He excelled in the schooling and exhibited signs of latent Enlightened abilities that weren't immediately coming to light as he is a Fighting/Psychic type so the manifestations were subtle. He was hand-picked by an officer within the Divine Defense Force, a top-secret group that uses the Union Divine Theater as a front for their true purpose - protecting the citizens of Union and searching for the gods that have not been seen in centuries so they can defend them and maintain peace and harmony between man and Pokémon. Originally billed as a ticket-taker by the conniving and somewhat mischievous director, Ichiro only recently became aware of his true purpose after having been run through a rather humiliating few weeks.
Canon Personality: Ichiro is at heart and earnest, serious, and duty-driven man with a strong desire to protect others. As a naval academy student, he has what is definitely a clearer view than his more rough-and-tumble cohorts of the grim responsibilities of a military man. He excels in warfare and he takes a certain pride in his ability, but he is not egotistical about it. He follows orders and takes a straight-and-narrow approach to life.
However, his hard work does not seem to pay off for him - at least at first. Sent to a theater in the middle of the Capitol to clip tickets, Ichiro sees this as the ultimate indignity. To make matters worse, the theater staff, albeit not intentionally maliciously (save for Manager Yoneda) tend to abuse him and pass off a lot of the difficult jobs, Ichiro begins to slip into a bit of depression, but in spite of that continues to work hard at what he sees as his new duties.
Eventually, however, it is revealed that he is to be the Captain of the Flower Division, an elite squadron of psychic warriors who have the ability to pilot the Koubu armors. As a Captain, Ichiro is valorous to a fault, placing his own life and safety on the line to ensure the safety of the other members of the Flower Division. He will throw himself into battle in order to protect them.
Ichiro has a certain natural charm that comes from being a valorous soldier of justice. A young, strapping young man, he is earnest and confident, which draws women to admire him. Guileless to a fault, he does not consciously flirt with the various Flower Squad members but ends up doing so anyway. That's not to say he isn't acutely aware of the fact that he is surrounded by pretty young women, it's merely that he has no idea how to speak to them (but is actually really good at it anyway).
AU Deviation: Growing up in a fairly orderly and rigid society, Ichiro's general personality has, interestingly, clashed in some ways. While he's definitely one to walk the straight and narrow, he's surprisingly something of an out-of-the-box thinker when it comes to military tactics and strategies. As such, he has an odd reputation within the academy, he's known as being talented and generally obedient, but he also has some trouble following standard protocols. This quality is, in fact, one of the main reasons he was scouted to be the captain of the Flower Division.
Being a landlocked city, Ichiro is no longer a naval cadet. He is instead a member of the Guard, but he doesn't quite follow the standard philosophies. Since he's never really been up on the wall he has no real experience with Pokémon attacks, and generally can be a bit more naive than he is in canon. While he really wants to do the right thing, he doesn't quite have the real world experience just yet.
Canon Abilities: Ogami is a skilled swordsman, favoring a dual-sword combat style. Graduating at the top of his class and bearing the rank of Navy Ensign. A skilled tactician, he is a good commander with a strong sense of strategy. In addition, Ogami is a fairly powerful psychic, within the Flower Division he is about mid-rate in terms of psychic strength. The major benefit it grants him is the ability to wound demons and pilot his Koubu, a large metal armor that fights with the same combat style as he does but provides him additional strength and defense. In some side material, he is shown to also utilize guns in his combat style and have the ability to charge his blades with psychic energy and fire waves of psychic energy in combat.
Enlightened Abilities: As an Enlightened, Ichiro is a Fighting/Psychic type and his special skill is Mastery of Battle
At the start of the game, Ichiro will primarily be a skilled fighter with some basic psychic attacks. As he grows in strength, he will gain more powerful abilities but they'll all generally be of the more subtle variety, honed fighting talent and some psychic shockwaves primarily. His evolutions will likewise be more subtle, he won't change too much in general appearance he'll just generally gain the ability to read the situation and enemy movements better and his personal physical capabilities and speed will start to noticeably outstrip that of ordinary humans.
In terms of his own personal abilities, they too will remain subtle. He will typically gain stronger shockwaves and more methods to empower his sword strikes with psychic power or use more potent fighting attacks.
Ichiro has no Enhanced item.
Starter Pokémon: Machop
Notes/Special Considerations: With Ichiro, I want to also bring in the Divine Defense Force - Flower Division as outlined in his history. Their primary goals are to seek out the legendaries in order to offer their service and protection, maintain harmony between Pokémon and humans, and defend the people of Union. They all use flower-based code-names and wear military-style uniforms with masks when they deploy, so they're technically top secret but anybody with half a brain who knows them can probably figure out who they are without TOO much trouble.
They also run a theater troupe as the front for their base which is pretty popular with the locals, the tickets are not super expensive so it's accessible to the lower classes and the acting is usually pretty good or at least entertaining. The theater's official title is the Union Divine Theater. Their base is in the basement.
SAMPLES
-What do you feel your role in Union is?
I just want to be of service to Union as best I can, protecting it from anything that would harm it.
-What do you seek for humanity’s future?
Security, prosperity, and peace.
-To what lengths would you go to rescue your allies if they were lost in the wilderness?
Any lengths necessary. No man or woman is ever to be left behind in the wilderness so long as I'm still standing.
-What would you say the most important occupation is within Union?
The doctors. Their vital services allow all of us to live with comfort and health.
-What aspects and traits do you respect most in your individual fellow man?
Honor, loyalty and honesty, I respect those who are straightforward and act with dignity and strength.
-What do you look for in the Pokémon with whom you bond?
The same traits that I look for in other people, Pokémon I bond with should be honorable, loyal and honest with me, and I to them.
-A human has attacked a wild Pokémon who retaliates in defense. How do you respond and whom do you defend?
I would intervene on behalf of the Pokémon and stop the person, without harming them ideally. The aggressor is obviously in the wrong.
-What would you say is your greatest duty, and why?
Protecting the city, and laying down my life if I have to.
-When encountering a rare and powerful Pokémon, what is most important? Researching it, bonding with it, or defeating it? Why?
If I could, I would like to bond with it, an ally of that strength would surely be a boon to Union. If not, help research it if possible, it is vital for us to know more about the Pokémon we share this world with.
-What do you do to ensure we never again awaken the wrath of the gods upon humanity?
Act with honor and ensure those of Union do the same. We must act with respect and live peacefully, if we can.
